The Backrooms

This shit is LIT. I won't be crazy about it but this is probably one of the best horror movies I've seen. I don't wanna be that cunt that like sucks backrooms dick and that's why they love it and because of that, their opinion is invalid.

If this movie sucked, I would've screamed it from the rooftops, but it didn't! the cinematography was so good and genuinely creative. I think a lot of horror or really films in general does charactor-centered cinematography that focuses on the protagonists or at most shows perspectives that they are seeing but there were so many shots that had no characters, no action, just environment and it was so fucking refreshing.

It actually kind of reminded me at a more refined and entertaining version of the cinematography of Skinamarink (2022). There were some amazing relatively quiet shots of just panning over the environment, which is unbelievable. It felt really necessary for the film and I'm hoping we start seeing more shots like this in horror films going forward. Not everything needs to be bodies getting split in half. GIVE ME SOME UNANNCY CAMERA ANGLES.

There was also this one chase scene towards the middle of the film that was so chaotic and overwhelming that i held my breath the whole time. It was genuinely unbelievable. please go watch this, especially with the director's cut coming to theaters July 3rd. I already wanna watch it again, maybe I will!
